PS3 “Home”

Sony announces it’s online hub for the PS3 at the Game Developers Conference 2007
Looks interesting, will be nice to see if it actually works out like in the demo. I think it’s a good thing they have gone in a completely opposite direction to the 360’s online interface, (which i think works very well, haven’t actually used the Wii’s online services yet).

I’m a bit concerned about how this is going to work… There are ellements that I like, but as an xbox owner, one of the things I love most is being able to switch it on, go straight into the game I want to play and either play straight away with anyone or bring up my friends list which is always available and set up a game and invite those people in or jump into their existing game(s). It is just stupidly easy! I don’t want to have to faff about wondering around a simulated world to pick up people and invite them back to my place to place a game.
Also I can seriously see this place being overrun adverts and marketing that will be rammed down your throat everywhere you go, lets face it, they have to pay for this free service somehow. I expect Sony will have their work cut out keeping out the porn and other innappropriate adverts, MSN can’t stop the junk getting through to my hotmail.
